Don Versus Wave Race is a series of regular streams that follows Don Casanova as he embarks on a journey to beat his personal best times and maintain PB Pace in Wave Race 64 for Nintendo 64.
The stream features a custom intro/outro, bumpers, and speedrun splits tracking for each course and personal best times. Don typically streams on Wednesdays at 4PM PT during Foggy Hump Day. Season 2 wrapped up on May 31, 2023 with a Season 3 coming in the future.
History[]
The stream premiered on March 22, 2020 during EZX Digital, the four-year anniversary celebration of Easy Allies. The Wii U Virtual Console version of Wave Race 64 was featured on stream with Don playing with a Wii U Pro Controller during the initial season of streams.
Don went on paternity leave in August 2020 for the birth of his child, putting the stream on hiatus until Don Versus Wave Race returned in December 2020. The stream went on another hiatus the following month following his attempt to beat his personal best time on Expert Championship.
On August 19, 2022, Nintendo officially released Wave Race 64 on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Upon the game's release, Don revived the stream as a regular weekly stream. He started the second season of streams using a Switch pro controller. The official Season 2 premiere started off with the debut of the submerged Aqua Lair, Don's new stream setup from The Studio on the main stage. This was also the genesis of Foggy Hump Day as Don settled into a Wednesday streaming schedule.
During S2, Part 27 of Don Versus Wave Race, Don brought up the idea of wrapping up Season 2 and asked for potential ideas and updates for Season 3. It was officially revealed during Group Stream Night that Part 28 on May 31 would be the S2 finale. For the stakes, Don put the last can of Strawberries and Cream Dr. Pepper on the line to hit a new PB.
